fairy tale

the horror we turn off
as easy as the truths
real life for
make-believe news
mirror, mirror
on the wall
what makes a nation
stand or fall?

looking glass windows
broken and cracked
drapes torn to shreds
in a room in the back
blood of the queen
on the castle stairs
king calls his minister
of foreign affairs

the castle walls
begin to shake
a fiery dragon
slowly wakes
the rising bounty
begins to call
the kingdom comes
to a crashing fall

sleep tight,
children tonight
its only a fairy tale
sleep tight,
children tonight
its only a fairy tale
a knight in shining silver armor
will rescue the king's beautiful daughter
and all will be at peace again
come my friend,
take my hand
its only a fairy tale

leaves falling
in the wind blow
in the distance
stands a widow
mourning alone
at her husband's grave
weeping for flowers
no one saved

lost to what
she hopes to find
on her hands and knees
a nation blind
but what you see
is only what you know
sitting alone
in front of the show

ms vision
dressed in black
can anyone bring
her lover back?
mother arrives
turns off the TV
says "why don't you children
ever listen to me?

"sleep tight,
children tonight
its only a fairy tale
sleep tight,
children tonight
its only a fairy tale
a knight in shining silver armor
will rescue the king's beautiful daughter
and all will be at peace again
come my friend,
take my hand
its only a fairy tale..."
