there is a discussion located at <a href="http://wordpress.org/support/topic/168271" rel="nofollow">http://wordpress.org/support/topic/168271</a> that discusses an alternative fix, involving the order in which one activates the plug-in relative to the other plug-ins that are causing the conflict. See the link for more details, but basically I've found that if you don't have the technical knowledge to implement the fix described in the current post, the work around described in the above link will suffice.

For some reason the minimeta widget is not redirecting new registration attempts to the proper sub-blog, and as a consequence is failing in the registration process -- it is returning an error like "could not register..."

I'm sure it wasn't always doing this, but not certain what happened to cause the change in behavior. In the process of tinkering around with it, I ended up just re-writing the plug-in code. So scratch out my original post if it isn't working for you, and do this instead...

Replace line 149 (version 2.7.0) with this code: [sorry, the code isn't showing up when I try to post it, will search for a plug-in or some other work around that will allow me to post the code publicly, until then post if you'd like me to send you the code]

here's some follow-up... the reference I made to line 151 refers to version 2.7.0 of the minimeta widget, current version is 3 something, so some confusion occurred when I recently tried to follow these directions on one of the newer releases of the minimeta widget... on version 3.0.1, I was successful inserting the code instead around line 192
